GirlVentures is seeking new members to join our Board of Directors! We are looking for individuals rooted in the Bay Area with a passion for inspiring girls to lead through outdoor adventure, inner discovery, and collective action. Specifically, we are seeking individuals with backgrounds in one or more of the following: legal (non-profit or youth sector), nonprofit finance, nonprofit organizational leadership with a strong DEI lens, adult alums and/or parents of GirlVentures participants, and those with direct experience in outdoor program leadership to balance our existing Board and provide ongoing, best in class support to the GirlVentures staff. Prior experience on a Board of Directors is preferred but not required.

What does a Board Member do?

The Board supports the work of GirlVentures and provides mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While day-to-day operations are led by GirlVentures’s Executive Director (ED) and the staff team, Board members play an active role in working with the ED during key moments of strategic and organizational decision making and serve as allies to the staff team as all we work towards inspiring girls to lead through outdoor adventure, inner discovery, and collective action.  A diverse array of personal and professional life experiences is welcomed on our board and regarded as an asset in the leadership of our organization.  All board members are expected to make a personally meaningful financial contribution to GirlVentures and to support in the development, fundraising and marketing efforts of the organization. All board members are expected to commit to a two-year term, but can serve up to 6 years.
