For the third year, the Walk-a-Thon will be entirely organized by our very own Girls Advisory Board (GAB), high-school girls who LOVED their GirlVentures experience and want to ensure ALL girls have access to these great programs! Erin Teutschel, one of the co-chairs of the 2011-2012 GAB, writes:
This Walk-a-thon is essential to both raising money for scholarships and supporting the Girls Advisory Board. I volunteer for GAB because it is the best way possible to stay involved with the GV community during the school year. These scholarships are immensely important to providing diverse girls with the opportunity to participate in GV courses. Each girl on GAB has committed to raising $250 which means a lot to me because this gives us girls a chance to give back to an organization which has given me confidence, courage and emotional strength. Without these scholarship opportunities I would have never been able to go on a course, but with their help my whole life was changed. Participating in the Walk-A-Thon is an amazing way to actively support adolescent girls in becoming part of the GirlVentures community. You, yourself, will see what goes on to make our GirlVentures summer trips possible! Come join us and walk around Lake Merritt on April 28th!
To register or to make a donation to support the walk and the Girls Advisory Board, please visit our Walk-a-Thon page. Hope to see you there!
